Kay is a results-oriented, strategic and business-focused IT executive with 25 years of experience in various roles as an IT Director, Business Unit Manager, and Program/Project Manager, leading the delivery of multi-million dollar strategic initiatives, including implementation of enterprise business systems, deployment of large scale IT infrastructure and enabling business transformation through information technology and related strategies. He has demonstrated success in driving strategic and operational IT initiatives in support of organizational goals and objectives. Kay has extensive experience in strategic business technology consulting, IT organizational assessment and transformation, business process transformation, organizational change management, IT strategy development and implementation. He can communicate effectively with business executives at a strategic level as well as with staff at an operational level. He is skilled in business/IT strategy alignment, program/project delivery, and successfully transitioning initiatives to operations. Kay’s strategic leadership and consulting experience span the public and private sectors, including Fortune 500 clients.
Kay earned an Ivy League MBA from Cornell University and a Master’s in Computer Science. He holds numerous professional certifications, including the PMI project management professional (PMP), and has attended numerous strategy and program management training programs at Stanford University and Cornell University. Kay is a member of the CIO Association of Canada (CIOCAN) and (ISACA), an international professional association focused on IT Governance.
He was most recently the Division Director of IT Services at Alberta Innovates Technology Futures (AITF), where he was responsible for providing technology vision, strategy, and leadership for developing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-wide information technology services. Kay architected and successfully implemented the transformation of the IT group to a more business and service-focused organization. Before this role, he was the Business Unit Manager for Support & Service Delivery at CA Technologies, a Fortune 500 software firm, where he was responsible for managing the strategic client relationship and delivery of consulting and support services for the data center workload automation technologies line of business.
